This was one of my first blog posts on Paper Buddha that was worth recovering after my site blowout this weekend.

——–

This is my first blog post since starting Paper Buddha and I can’t think of a better way to kick things off than by highlighting the new album from two of my favorite musicians, David Byrne and Brian Eno. The album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, is being released today.

This is the first Byrne/Eno collaboration in 27 years and they really knocked it out of the park. Rather than spend a lot of time describing it, I’ll let you check it out for yourself – stream the entire album on demand for free below. You can also get a free MP3 of the first single from the album, “Strange Overtones”. If you like what you hear, post it on your blog, share it with your friends, and support the artists by buying the album.

If you prefer digital formats like me, you’ll be happy with the 320kbps MP3s and optional FLAC files included with every package. You can also get a physical CD for a few bucks more, and if you’re a die hard Byrne/Eno fan like me then throwing down $80 will get you a limited-edition Deluxe Package custom designed by renowned artist Stefan Sagmeister that includes a miniature booklet, a custom “Holding Pattern” screen saver and a high res video about the making of the album starring Byrne and Eno themselves. Here’s the teaser:

Now I have to be honest and say that the company I work for, Topspin, is the marketing technology partner for this release and I’ve had the privilege (and pleasure) of working with David Byrne and his management team over the past few months on this project. And the best part? The album is incredible – I expect rave reviews.

This past weekend I completely wiped out my blog and had to rebuild it from scratch. Don’t ask me how I did it because I honestly don’t remember. What I do remember is that I didn’t have a proper backup – a lesson you really only learn after experiencing a catastrophic meltdown.

The good news is that I didn’t have many blog posts and thanks for my pal Ian Rogers I was able to retrieve the bulk of the content from some cached pages on Google. And, Ty White turned me on to a new web hosting provider, Host Monster, and my new rates are 40% lower than my previous provider, Yahoo! Guess my blunder wasn’t a complete screw up.
