The past seven months have been insane. New work, new friends, new surroundings, and a relocation that seems like it will never end. Good thing I’ve got incredible music to listen to non stop! I cranked out this mix tonight to relieve some stress and escape for a bit. All new tunes – all tech house – all groovy. Just what the doctor ordered to shake off the craziness and recharge.

BTW – I make all of my mixes live on Technics SL1200s with Serato. No Ableton or other cut and paste apps.

A groove to get your week started off proper!

It’s been a loooooong, loooooong time since I’ve posted anything on Paper Buddha and even longer since I stepped up to the turntables for a little mixing. Being a new dad certainly alters one’s priorities, but that’s a great thing in this case. Spending time with my son has been incredible and the downtime from DJing has made me even more excited to get back into it again.

I can’t promise that I’ll make your rump shake as much as Michael Todd, but I’ll sure give it a shot. Thanks for keeping Paper Buddha alive and kicking in my absence. Hopefully I’ll do you proud every now and then.

I really enjoyed putting this one together. I have to give thanks to Ms. Sapphire though. She helped take the edge off of what would likely have been a serious train wreck given how tense I was prior to diving into the crates the other night. It ain’t flawless, but it sure put a smile on my face. A whole mess of Tech House, Electro, Techno and Minimal goodness wrapped together for your aural pleasure. It’s been a looooong time since I’ve stood behind the decks and put together a mix – 3 months in fact. The birth of my beautiful son, Griffin was the reason for this extended break and I’m more inspired than ever to continue following my music passion. I can’t wait until he’s old enough to tag team with me on the 1200s – won’t be long I’m sure (check out Britton’s son, Brayden – he’s down).

So for this latest mix, which I am calling “Ze ‘Stache”, I threw together a bunch of minimal, tech and electro tracks – there are a few rubber-neckin’ numbers in the appropriate places so there’s definitely some variety. I’m a little rusty after 3 months of downtime, but for the most part I think this thing sounds pretty good. Have a listen and don’t hesitate to hit up Beatport if you like any of the tracks you hear.
