A few weeks ago I got an email from Clynt Breeding, a head from back in the day, who had one of my EDGEClub mixes in his possession – one that I had misplaced over the years. Here it is for your listening pleasure – March 18, 1995 – a blast from the past. Sorry I don’t have a complete track listing on this one, but you may recognize a few of them. The first song is one of my top 10 tracks of all time called “I Shall Be Released” (DiY Love Cabbage Mix) by Alabama Three, followed immediately by “Talk to Me” (Sasha’s Full Music Master) by Hysterix. A groove to get your week started off proper!

It’s been a loooooong, loooooong time since I’ve posted anything on Paper Buddha and even longer since I stepped up to the turntables for a little mixing. Being a new dad certainly alters one’s priorities, but that’s a great thing in this case. Spending time with my son has been incredible and the downtime from DJing has made me even more excited to get back into it again.

I can’t promise that I’ll make your rump shake as much as Michael Todd, but I’ll sure give it a shot. Thanks for keeping Paper Buddha alive and kicking in my absence. Hopefully I’ll do you proud every now and then.

I really enjoyed putting this one together. I have to give thanks to Ms. Sapphire though. She helped take the edge off of what would likely have been a serious train wreck given how tense I was prior to diving into the crates the other night. It ain’t flawless, but it sure put a smile on my face. A whole mess of Tech House, Electro, Techno and Minimal goodness wrapped together for your aural pleasure. It’s been four months since my last mix – way overdue for something fresh. I’ve been buried (in a very good way) helping a few very talented artists set up shop and sell music directly to their fans via the Topspin platform (Freeland, Van Hunt and Eminem to name a few).

Well, I made up for lost time digital crate digging this weekend at Beatport, and stocked up on some meaty, bouncy techno, tech, electro and straight-up house beats. Man, have I deprived myself of some good tunes. After straightening up my studio (the 4.7 magnitude earthquake we had a few weeks ago knocked over my monitors, among other things), I settled in for a two-hour mix session. I love stringing new tracks together for the first time, especially when the end result is something worth sharing with those who appreciate the bouncy stuff.

I found some time to whip up a mix this past weekend after picking up a batch of new tracks. I’ve really neglected my turntables over the past several months and it’s nice to be able to find more time to shake off the stress and get lost in the mix for a few hours each week.

“Glass Face” is a blend of tech, electro, and a little techno. No breaks this time (f you want breaks, check out Wasabi Bomb), just straight up 4×4 beats that I think you’ll enjoy. I picked up all of these tracks at Beatport. If you like ‘em, you should pick ‘em up there too.
